Carson Mansion

Eureka, California

When I think of Victorian Architecture, I think of elaborate bow windows, towers, gingerbread trim, wrap around porches, odd shapes and unusual roof line; the Carson Mansion is one house that leaves me nothing else to describe as my thoughts was full filled.

This is said to be one of the most photographed houses in California, if not the USA or the world, as with all this trim and well maintained who would not want to keep it as a memory.

To find out more please follow this link below.

(This house is owned as I understand by a private club that sometimes opens it as tours, the best way to see this home is probably to contact the heritage society by following the web address below)

Regstorff House

Posted in Historical Sites at 8:25 pm by Kendal

Mountain View, Calif

“The Rengstorff House is Mountain View’s oldest historic house. It is one of the finest examples of Victorian Italianate architecture on the west coast.”

I know that I said that I would not make any more post until rainy days, “well it is raining today and I discovered a Victorian Italianate that I had to tell you about as it is open for tours and even very cheap for private events. There are many pictures and an online tour for those unable to travel, this house is truly cared for and loved.  Judging from their website, I think they have many intersting events that just add to the magic of the house itself.  Check for event dates to make the journey just  a little more special or contact them.

Enjoy the Sunshine

Posted in Announcement. at 2:14 pm by Kendal

The picture above is of one of the buildings in the european culture center complex in Valencia, Spain.  Valencia is one of the most beautiful cities with bright and colorful buildings, outstanding shopping, nightlife and the place seems not to sleep but for a few hours a day between midday at 5 pm.  The city opens up at night and does not stop.

O.k., the reason for the post is to state, that I will not be present much this summer as the weather has warmed and I want to move about and enjoy the summer.  I will be checking in from time to time and when the weather is miserable outside; you will see a post; every now and then.

So, I turn off the computer and start to enjoy the sun and encourage everyone to do the same.
